Summer is coming to an end, the weather is getting cooler and honestly I am tired of the high heat and humidity. So let’s stow away the bikinis and get ready for cooler weather, boots, auburn leaves and hot pumpkin spice lattes. Fall is an exciting time of the year as the year slowly draws to a close and the holidays start to reel in. I don’t know about you but after wearing open shoes and summery dresses, I forget about my previous fall wardrobe collection and so, it’s always surprising when I bring my boots and sweaters to the front of my closet. I find myself seeing items I had long forgotten about lol. For many people, Fall fashion allows them to withdraw from the spotlight brought on by hot weather ( can’t wear boots, sweaters, long sleeves in high heat) and slip into more cozy and functional wardrobes. Covering up and keeping warm shouldn’t translate into boring outfits. You can make Fall season fun with bright colors and accessories. So here is my take on what to expect this Fall in fashion…..let’s dive in!
10 FALL 2021 FASHION TRENDS by the Cheery Fashionista
- Lace Everything = Fall Fashion
I know what you are thinking. Since when was lace not in fashion? Lace is always in trend but this Fall, it’s going to be showing as heavier textures and full lace skirts, dress and leggings. If you want to look feminine and sexy, then lace is your go to fabric. I love pairing lace tops with skinny jeans and heels, just fab! Also lace dresses are elegant and are perfect for dinner dates and formal occasions. Don’t forget your clutches girls!
2. Skinny Jeans and Mom Jeans
It looks like the skinny jeans trend is here to stay and that is okay but loose jeans are making a comeback, thanks to the 90s fashion revival. I used to make fun of my cousins when I was younger about their jeans because I thought they were huge but I guess, I was wrong. Mom jeans and boyfriend jeans are going to be the staple pieces this Fall. Rotate in your favorite skinny jeans.
3. Heavy Color Saturation.
Don’t you dare go back to dull colors this Fall( unless you are mix and matching with the saturated hues) . Expect to see cobalt, neon, magenta and red strong colors especially in tops and dresses/ I saw a magenta dress that I can’t stop thinking about. Not just clothing guys, you will see purses , shoes and accessories in bold colors. So exciting 🙂
4. Boots of all lengths
Boots and Fall season go together and Fall 2021 will be no different. Remember that song by Jessica Simpson about boots made for walking? Well, cowboy boots are so in this Fall. Not just in the default brown, there is a whole variation of colors in this style to choose from. Also calf boots are trending in a variety of colors. Pair with your favorite dress or skirt, or leggings. Knee high boots and ankle boots are still in fashion this Fall season but expect a bolder style with animal prints and vibrant colors.
5. Knit Tops
I know that you are thinking, knit tops are a must for Fall duh! This trendy style will involve more skin showing knit tops in halter and spaghetti types.
6. Bags
I am excited about oversized leather totes being in season because I do carry a whole bunch of stuff and those bags go with all kinds of outfits.
7. Plaid Plaid Plaid
Plaid is in style this Fall and its not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s one of those trends that is timeless and works any day of the year. With the 90’s revival in fashion in full swing, you will see a lot of skinny jeans, plaid blouses and shirts, thigh high solid boots and huge jewelry pieces.
8 Jewelry trends Fall 2021
Gold tones are so IN and we are pretty excited about that. CHunky curb chains to thicker choker necklaces with bolder colors. Shimmer is also a trend this Fall and so shiny earrings will be all over the place. Remember ladies that shimmery earrings mean skipping on necklaces.
9. Blazers
You are probably thinking, blazers are always trending so what’s different this time round? Well, the trend is oversized blazers that can be worn as dresses with huge buttons. Also the saturated shades we talked about are going to flow into blazers. The houndstooth print is very popular with celebs. I have already seen the trend on Instagram and I know it’s going to be hot.
10 kerchiefs
Kerchiefs or headscarfs are going to be a huge trend in Fall 2021. Different variations in color and prints will be all the rave. Called a kerchief because they are square and generally fold like a handkerchief. The most popular style you will see is the bandana print. TikTok is going crazy about the si;lk headscarf which have been popular with celebrities and influencers.
