Hello cheery friends,
Let’s be real, there is a lot going on in the world right now, and its challenging to be positive in uncertain times. Even if you avoid reading and watching the news, it’s hard to escape the headlines, and you find yourself on the brink of madness. But even as things seem out of control, it is important and necessary for you to find positivity. Come with me as I share how I stay grounded to avoid going insane in these times!
Tips to Live Positively
1. Feel it all
I know its quite irritating to keep hearing, ohh be positive blah blah especially when you are feeling down and overwhelmed. Being positive doesn’t mean ignoring how you feel. In fact, part of finding positivity is allowing yourself to go through those hard feelings. Cry as much as you need to, scream in the car like I do, be confused ,and then after you have let it all out, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you made it through tough times before, and that this too shall pass.
2. Take a Break
Turn off the news, turn off push notifications, mute that one online person who is always reminding you of unpleasant things. Give yourself a break! We live in a world where news is constantly shoved down our throats whether we like it or not. This can drain our energy. This is why sometimes you will sleep a healthy amount of hours but still be exhausted. It’s the news and media cycle that is draining you of much needed energy. One of the things I don’t do is dare to read the news when I wake up. Avoid this habit at all costs because it can mess up your day and mood. This can lead to anxiety; causing a ripple effect to those around you. The things we read ,and the images we see go straight into our subconscious minds, which can alter our mood not just on that day but even in the future. It may be hard to pinpoint the source if this is something you do out of habit.
3. Find Small Joys
Another cliche that can annoy when someone is feeling down and out. But seriously, do small things that bring you joy. Listen to a song that makes you happy, light a fragrance candle , talk to someone who brings you joy. These little, mindless things make such a huge difference. Try it!
4. Focus on What’s in Your Control
Focus on that which you can control. Sometimes when you read the news you feel pressure to do something about it. But you can’t fix it ,on some things, you can! Focus on how you present yourself, how you feel and your goals. These gestures will have you feeling in control of your life, altering the day to day decisions that you make!
5. Be Around Good Energy
Avoid people who drain your energy. Energy is currency, and you do not waste it. Spend time with that person who makes you feel calm, energizes you and motivates you. Talk to them, laugh with them, text them memes. This mantra also applies to social media, where people spend a significant amount of time. Avoid negative content that will rile your spirit up.
6. Practice Gratitude
Even when things are rough, there is always something to be grateful for. A good meal, a warm bed and just being healthy and alive. Gratitude and appreciation help you attract more positivity in your life. This will keep you grounded. Learn to expect good things, even when things are not perfect!
7. Speak Kindly to Yourself
Be careful about what you are saying to yourself , even in passing! Say nice things to yourself, speak positive words, and the universe will reward you. Being kind to yourself is a template that other good minded people use to treat you. So avoid tearing yourself down, and build yourself up with positive words.. it makes a difference. Trust me!
8. Speak to a Higher Power
It doesn’t matter what you believe when it comes to spiritual matters. There is a higher power that alters lives! So go forth and seek it. You cannot do it alone; so confide in God, give him all your cares and concerns. When you pray, you instantly feel better because you have unloaded your problems and concerns to a higher being.
So my friends, its okay to not have it all figured out. Nobody really does. But even in the middle of the mess, you can still choose to breathe, to hope, to find tiny moments that remind you life is still good. You’re allowed to struggle and still look for joy. That is strength. Keep going, keep showing up. That’s enough.
Thank you for visiting
