Hello Cheery friends, as a short gal, women’s high heels have always had a special place in my closet and my heart. In this blog, I will go in depth on my relationship with high heels and how to style them. There is something magical about high heels for women that elevates not just an outfit but also my mood. Before we go into styling, let me list the types of high heels in the fashion world.
Different Types of High Heels
- Stilettos Stiletto heels are not just shoes, for me they are statement makers. They bring out confidence, elegance and make me stand taller( I’m 5’1). Sexy stiletto shoes are what you wear when you want to command attention everywhere you go. I love to look feminine, and I can say without any doubt that stilettos exude this energy and strength. Let’s face, you have to be strong willed to walk around in very thin high heels. Your choice of stilettos heels can make or break your day , so it’s important to do thorough research before you buy a pair.
- Blocks
Block heels are about comfort , style and the complete opposite of stilettos. They have a broad base for support which gives you stability as you run errands or go for strolls. I love that block heels can elevate a casual outfit. Imagine a sun dress with flip flops, now picture the same dress with block heels! Block heels provide a laid back feel and are the perfect accessory for relaxed outfits without sacrificing style.
Pumps
If you look at my shoe collection, you will see that I am 60% about pump heels and that says alot! For me, pump heels are a very classy shoe that commands respect, offers style and is functional. When I was a teen, I used to admire women wearing pump heels and how they looked so confident in their office outfits. I vowed then to get a pair when I grew up. I’m so obsessed with pump heels , I probably have them in each color. Seriously. pumps are my work shoes and they are more stable and professional than stilettos
- Wedges
I think it’s safe to say that wedge heels are the official shoes of summer/vacations. I love that you can wear anything with wedges and still look chic. They have a uniform sole around the shoe providing guaranteed stability and style. They are not too dressy or serious and so you can pair them with shorts and a tank top or wear them with a dress and look fabulous.
- Kitten heels
These are for those looking for comfort while remaining stylish as well as professional. They are like pump heels but have a low heel of 2 inches or under. They give you a lift without the strain and pain of wearing stilettos . Kitten heels in shoe language means ” I want the look and style of pumps because I will be on my feet all day and wont be seen in flats”.
- Platform Heels
Platform heels are shoes with a whole lot of personality. They make a bold fashion statement while providing comfort and style. One of my favorite pairs of platform heels are below, and I find the color so alluring and feminine. The chunky base and bright red is simply irresistible. Because of short stature, when I wear this pair of platform heels, I feel an incredible boost in height and confidence. Their design offers more comfort with even distribution of weight and not just on the ball of the foot.
