Hi cheery friends,
It is summer time; when vacations are in full swing, people are looking to get away from their daily grind , and get some much needed R&R. Most people however, when getting ready to go on vacation will obsess over plane tickets and hotel reservations, but in this blog, I want to share subtle 10 things that scream “I’m on vacation!”. These ten mindless things take the whole vacay experience to the next level by enhancing it. So let me share with you things that instantly scream vacation mode!
- . Flip-Flops and Vacations Go Together
Thank you to whoever came up with flip flops, which I consider to be the official shoes for vacation. Vacations are a time for your feet which have endured closed shoes forever to finally breathe. Do you know I feel sad when I see hotel staff in their closed shoes, it just gives me anxiety ! What makes flip-flops so easy is how they work well around water, how easy it is to tour the local towns, and how easy you can go from the beach to the restuarant( depending on the attire policy). They are easy to slide on and off and comfy for all day wear.

2. That Sun Hat for “Shade”
Let’s be real, sun hats are not just to keep those strong UV rays away, they are also statement pieces which say, “I am here to do nothing all day!” Are they really necessary though? Absolutely Yes! Because what would vacation be like without these hats which ooze of drama and getaway energy. I just love how they bring a relaxed vibe to any look whether at the beach or while touring cities.

3. The Overpacking Syndrome
Why did I bring seven dresses for a three-day weekend? Why did I pack heels I haven’t worn since 2019? Because I will not miss out on looking good when I have a spacious suitcase that can carry it all. I could end up being invited to go on a yacht party or a royal ball. It’s delusional, but deeply hopeful.

4. The Airport “I’m Cute But Comfy” Fit
Airport outfits are a part of your trip and if you are like me, just seeing these pieces of clothing long after the vacation brings up nostalgia and I relive the whole moment. So for me picking these clothing pieces is important . Comfort is key because if I am stuck in heels or tight clothing, then that entire energy will ruin the memory

5. Eating Like Calories Took a Break Too
On vacation, I eat like I’ve just been released from a 12-week cleanse. Dessert after every meal? Yes. Breakfast dessert? Even better. Ice cream at 10 a.m.? Why not, I’m on vacation. At some point, my body stops asking questions and just goes along for the ride.

6. Hotel Towels
Can we talk about how hotel towels just hit different? They’re big, fluffy, and oh so comfy, like they were made just for you. That rich texture instantly gives off vacation vibes, wrapping you up in pure getaway mode.

7. Buying Souvenirs You’ll Never Use Again
Souvenirs can feel kind of pointless when you’re actually on vacation, like, do I really need another magnet, keychain, or random trinket? But then you get home, and suddenly that “meaningless” thing is a little time machine. You’ll catch it sitting on a shelf or counter top and it hits you with vacation residue, the salty breeze, the laughter, the feeling of freedom you had in that moment. It’s like the souvenir soaks up the vibes of the trip ,and then slowly leaks them back into your everyday life. Get them!

8. Taking Photos of the Same Sunset
If my Google photos app could speak, it would shock you. I have multiple pictures of the same sunset, the same beach, the same ocean. I worry people who have seen me take pics might recognize me on social media because I love taking pictures . You guys, don’t be ashamed to take pictures, you will appreciate them when you are older. That smile wont look the same, trust me!
9. The Wild Confidence to Wear Stuff You’d Never Wear at Home
Vacation me is bold. This is a chance for me to wear unique outfits and have a good excuse. You can wear a bikini top with a skirt and go have breakfast without anyone batting an eye. It is such a freeing feeling and you literally have zero restrictions on what you can wear.

10. Having No Idea What Day It Is
The truest sign of a good vacation? Not knowing or caring what day it is. All I want to know is which day we are arriving at port or checkout date, and the time. To know the day of the week while on vacation, is to remind yourself of what you do on your normal routine. Why would I want to do that if I am on escape mode!!
